Do regular season run differential leaders win the World Series?

Run differential in MLB is used by some people as gospel and by some people as just a meaningless number.

You can make the call.

Here are the World Series combatants since 2004. Only 7 of the 24 league leaders in run differential during that time span made in to the World Series, or a paltry 29.1%.

However, 17 of the 24 World Series foes were in the top 3 in their league's run differential or 70.8%.

You make the call.
