Red Sox pitching on the rebound since July 2nd pasting

The Boston Red Sox got blasted by the Los Angeles Angles (21-2) on July 2nd. At that point the season looked like it was on the brink of going nowhere.

Red Sox record was down to 6 games over .500 (43-37).

The pitching staff's cumulative season ERA was 4.58.

Red Sox didn't have a reliable or effective 4th or 5th starter.

It turns out that game might have been the impetus to get this team and the pitching staff working properly. Five of the 16 players in that fateful July 2nd game have since been either traded or demoted (Light, Vazquez, Hernandez, LaMarre, Hembree) and the starting pitcher is now a reliever (Buchholz).
